When the Thread City Brass is called upon to provide music for church services, we endeavor to provide an enriching musical experience, enhancing, but not overshadowing the primary purpose of the service.
The quintet can provide a self-contained prelude program of diverse music appropriate to the church setting. Typical prelude program length is between fifteen and thirty minutes. We draw from a substantial library of published arrangements as well as custom arrangements unique to the Thread City Brass.
During the service, the Quintet usually plays on the Processional and Recessional hymns, as well as other hymns during the service. We have custom arrangements of many of the more popular hymns, and are generally agreeable to developing new arrangements for hymns. Our arrangements provide full, five-part renditions of the hymn tunes, many featuring creative descant verses. These unique and special arrangements add a sparkling dimension to tried and true hymn tunes. All of these hymn arrangements are designed to work with standard hymnal harmonizations.
The group has been playing together for church services since the early 1980s. We have considerable experience with many different types of services, and have worked with many organists and choir directors. We are confident that we can provide an enjoyable and positive musical addition to most any religious service.
